Last week we attended STEMfest Inspiring Careers Showcase Awards at the London Stadium (home of West Ham FC). It was great to see all the children who took part in the 7-week programme being rewarded for all the hard work they had put in.
As part of the event, the children were grouped together and given the task to build a bridge between two chairs (using limited equipment) that was structurally sound. The winner of the competition managed to create a bridge that held 43 cartons of Tropicana (fruit juice)! The working, skill, passion and knowledge displayed during this task and throughout the programme was extremely impressive and made us excited to see what they will be able to accomplish if they choose join the sector.
We heard from some amazing speakers including Mike Birch, Divisional Director at Ramboll, DfT Aviation Ambassador, Mohammad Taher and CIHT STEM Ambassador Leora Wilson about their vastly different journeys into the sector. It wasinspiring to hear from each of them on how they have all reached different levels within their careers.
